How To Fish is a 3D fishing game from Ouaz Games set on a small tropical island. You pick an angler, choose when to go out, cast from the dock and wait to see what bites. Most of the time it’s a regular fish. Now and then the line pulls something a lot bigger out of the water.

Every trip starts with a choice of day, evening or night. The light and the sea change with the hour, and so do the catches. Then you cast, watch the float, and reel in when the fish takes the bait. Pull too early and the line comes back empty.

What you can catch

Catches come in five tiers, from common and uncommon up to rare, epic and legendary. Some of what comes up isn’t a fish at all, since items get hooked too. Salmon and sharks are in there, along with a few stranger things. Each fish you land is worth coins, and the rarer it is, the more it pays. The cast, the float and the reel follow the basics of real angling.

Ten rods to buy

The coins go to the rod shop. How To Fish has ten rods, starting with Wooden and Stone and going up through Copper, Iron, Steel, Golden, Titanium and Crystal to Divine and Mythic. A better rod casts further, pulls harder and gives you a better chance at the rare catches, so it’s worth saving up instead of spending coins as soon as you get them.

Anglers, daily rewards and the wheel

Before you head out you pick your angler from a dock full of chibi characters. Some are open from the start and the rest unlock as you play. Your pick is saved for next time. Coming back each day pays out a daily reward, and there’s a prize wheel to spin for extra coins.

Don’t reel the moment the float twitches. Wait for the real bite, when it goes under. And try the night as well as the day, since the night sea has catches you won’t see in daylight.

Play with the mouse on a computer or with your finger on a phone or tablet. The buttons on screen cast the line and reel it in.
